About

Doug Jose is an engineer by training, a computer jack-of-all-trades by inclination, and knows a lot abut System Administration because it paid the bills the last 12 years of his career. I am originally from Wyandotte, Michigan. I met my future wife in a co-ed dorm at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. We’ve been married 43 years, but have really kicked-it up the last 10 years: Expedition canoeing and kayaking, backpacking, whitewater paddling (for a few years), etc. We belong to several groups of adventurers. I am an active Outings Leader for the local Sierra Club organization (Miami Group, named for the Miami Indian tribe).

I was diagnosed with life-threatening esophageal cancer on February 2nd, 2017. It has turned my life upside-down. I decided to blog about it. This is the first creative writing I’ve ever done – I finally have something important to talk about! I decided to be open about it to everyone, and it has turned into a very rewarding experience! Come walk this road with me; let’s see where it leads. At a minimum, this gives me a chance to tell my children more about my life, especially my inner life.

My current punch-list: Thank all the people that made a positive impact on my life!
